Unique Minds 3: What Is JELNO?

jelno week 3 artwork

Back again with another blog.

This week I decided on how I want the t-shirts and other items on JELNO to be released. I always wanted to release a new t-shirt monthly, and throughout the month leading up to the release, I can tease this new design on social media to build a bit of interest around it. The t-shirt will always release on the first Saturday of the month which will allow me to package up the orders and ship them by Monday, the release also hopefully won't clash as much with my other responsibilities so hopefully there will be few complications with sending the orders ( of course if there ever are complications I will always send an email explaining the situation ). So I'm aiming to release the first t-shirt on Saturday the 7th of September.

Last week I said I would explain more about the idea behind JELNO so I'm going to do that now. As you may know, each item off JELNO has a chance to come in one of three 'variants' which correlate with the colours red, blue and gold (if you want to understand more in-depth how the variants work read the 'about' section of the website). The differences in the items will often be subtle, for example, the eye colour of a character on a t-shirt may be red, blue or gold depending on which variant you receive. So if you and your friends all get the same t-shirt one could get the character with red eyes, one could have blue eyes and one could have gold eyes. Or if one of your mates gets a t-shirt in the gold variant you might want to go see it due to how lucky you have to be to get one.

I have decided to use DTG (direct to garment) printing for probably the first couple of releases due to the difficulty in screen-printing all the different variants of the designs. Both screen printing and DTG have there pros and cons, both produce quality prints which is why I'm happy using either.

I have decided on the t-shirt design for September, November and December but I'm still deciding on the design for October - I want to make it Halloween themed so it may have something to do with pumpkins or skeletons ;)

See you next week with another blog, if you have any interest at all in JELNO try and spread the word as much as possible it's a massive help <3
